Why are you a builder? - I enjoy the creative process of transforming a piece of land into a beautiful dwelling.
Are you a member of the home builders association? - Yes. I follow the code of ethics established by the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association.
How long do you warrant a home? - One year warranty.
How do you differentiate your homes? - You'll always find a large utility room, large master closet and large kitchen in the homes I design. Check out the Homes for Sale and explore the floor plans.
For kitchen cabinets, I use Brookhaven by Wood-Mode installed by Classic Kitchens. These cabinets have a ten year warranty, Blumotion® soft-closing action, and an 8 step stain finish process. See their web site at www.wood-mode.com/main_sections_about_wood-mode/About_WM_Introduction.htm for more information on Brookhaven. See their web site at www.classickitchensinc.com for more information.
I install KitchenAid® appliances in my kitchens for dishwasher, cooktop, microwave, and oven. See their web site at www.kitchenaid.com/catalog/product_index.jsp for more information.
I like to use SOLAR BOARD® as a radiant barrier sheathing product for roofs. See their web site at www.norbord.com/OSB_SolarBoard_Features.htm for more information. Another alternative is to use RadiantGUARD® which is applied to the bottom of rafters. See their web site at www.radiantguard.com/RadiantBarrier.html for more information. Studies indicate that radiant barrier can reduce energy consumption by up to 35% during peak hours in the summer and by up to 29% over extended periods.
All the exterior walls on my homes have 7/16 inch OSB wall sheathing. I like to use DuPont™ Tyvek® house wrap. See their web site at www2.dupont.com/Tyvek_Construction/en_US/. Another alternative is to use ZIP System® wall sheathing which has a built-in water resistant barrier. See their web site at www.huberwood.com/main.aspx?pagename=zipsystemwalloverview for more information. These products resist the growth of mold or mildew and combat air infiltration.
I like to use a three zone approach to heating and air conditioning for most larger two story homes; one zone for the upstairs and two zones split the downstairs. For a large space on the first floor especially when the house flows East to West, I believe having two zones with their own thermostatic controls will produce a more even environment. I'll use either Trane® or Carrier® to create a comfortable living space. See their websites at www.trane.com/Residential/Default.aspx or www.residential.carrier.com/ for more information.
For the second floor or the main floor of a basement home, I like to use AdvanTech® Flooring which is moisture resistant and has design bending strength and design stiffness superior in comparison to commodity OSB or plywood. See their web site at www.huberwood.com/main.aspx?pagename=advantechflooring for more information.
For the second floor, I pour a lightweight concrete subfloor approximately 1 and 5/8 inch thick. This acts as a sound barrier and improves the strength and feel of the floor.
For arches, barrel, dome and other ceiling treatments, I like to use Arch-Tek for a more precise surface. See their web site at www.arch-tek.com for more information.
I like to use a custom baseboard and door casing designed just for my homes. I also use a special 7 inch crown.
